Location: Hartley’s Nurseries, Northway, Maghull, L31 4EJ

Hours: 8am to 4pm on a 5-day working rota (Weekend availability required)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our busy garden centre café. If you enjoy preparing fresh, homemade food in a welcoming environment and take pride in delivering great quality and service, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside our Head Chef to prepare and serve delicious breakfasts, lunches, homemade cakes, and daily specials. You’ll help maintain high food quality, ensure excellent hygiene standards, and contribute to creating a warm, enjoyable experience for our customers. You will be required to cover the Head Chef on their days off / holiday cover.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard.
• Assist with daily food preparation and kitchen organisation.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Help with stock rotation, storage, and inventory.
• Keep the kitchen clean, tidy, and well organised.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Support the wider café team when needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Food Hygiene Certificate
• Flexibility to work weekends and holiday cover as required.
